PM Urges Editorial Forum to Fight Against Fake News

Phnom Penh: The Prime Minister of Cambodia, Hun Sen, urged the Editor-in-Chief Forum to participate in curbing fake news against opportunists under the name journalist and strengthen journalistic ethics.

In a message sent to the Press Editorial Forum on December 17, 2022, PM Hun Sen stated that he was proud that the information industry was thriving in Cambodia and praised the media for joining the Royal Government. In disseminating the implementation of the Royal Government's measures during the fight against Covid-19 and other measures to protect the population.

However, PM also saw that some media outlets acted in violation of professional ethics, selfishness, dissemination of information, incitement, harassment, social security, which undermined the belief in the media and information institutions.

In this regard, he urged the press editorial forum to participate in promoting the professional ethics of journalism against opportunists who take refuge under the label. Encourage journalists to keep up to date with technology. Participate in the fight against fake information, do not be a distributor of false information that leads to harm to social security. Continue to promote Covid-19 disease prevention measures and encourage people to get vaccinated, especially to participate in the promotion of the SEA Games and Para Games, which Cambodia will host in 2023.
